PU casting for low volume mouldings and castings

PU or polyurethane casting

PU  resin casting is a prototyping technology used when you need a small series or short run of your 3d cad model made out of a PolyUrethane with properties close to real injected plastics such as ABS, POM ,PA or TPE's. Usually series of 5-100 pieces will be run.

The process:

The first step of PU Casting process involves encapsulating/enclosing a master model in a liquid Silicone rubber. Than a vacuum is applied to the mould. The mould is then cured in an oven at around 70°C

check also http://www.mouldplastic.org if you are more interested in innovative injection molding

Once cured the mould can be split up in 2 or more parts, at which point the master model is removed leaving a mould cavity perfectly replicating the master model.

what is possible with vacuum casting?;
We can make double or triple shot products, we can cast rubber or TPE or TPR like materials. (with 20-80 shore A hardness)

We can vacuum cast optical clear plastics ( same like PMMA)

WHAT ARE THE main ADVANTAGES OF PolyUrethane casting?

The main advantages of this process are lower tooling costs then tradional injection molds manufacturing by injectionmoldschina.com and a quicker turn-around than traditional mould making (e.g. moldings within days of receipt of masters) The products have an exceptional detail and accuracy.

Minimal shrinkage permits use of duplicates or sub-masters for multiple impressions, useful if originals are delicate. Flexible moulds and inserts allow significant undercuts, simplifying mould-making and containing costs.

We offer low volume production by Polyurethane casting or vacuum casting (RTV)

Injected plastic parts

It is essential and utter importants to have a plastic part that is designed by design rules of injection molding.
Before we, china injection mould, start the tooling, we will check your product parts if they are feasible and producible for tooling; Hereunder is a list of part structure aspects that we will check..
draft angles: Does your part have draft angles? Your part must have at least 0.5 degrees of draft angles parallel at the parting direction to facilitate easy withdrawal from the mold.
Uniform Wall thickness; is your part of the same thickness at all areas? A Uniform wall thickness will ensure uniform cooling and reduce defects, like warping . Also make sure the wall thickness isn't too thick and can be decreased where necessary. Core out thick sections. When you feel the part needs to be stiff, use ribs instead of thick walls.
Sprue-point or gate location: where is your gate location positionised? Best position of your gate location is on a thick part, so the shrinkage will be more uniform.

Radii: Make sure there are no sharp corners, make round corners to prevent stress concentration. The inside corner radius should be a minimum of one material thickness.
Use ribs: design ribs where the part is too thick. This will avoid using (too much) material.

pee on bush

We have made a nice product for men's stress relief especially during this economic crisis: an urinal screen!

we have made a screen with a magic inkt (thermochrome inkt) that "dissolves" when you pee on it! Actually the magic ink becomes transparent when it get's more hot than 30 degrees.
In this picture you will see the two phases of this product: the lower black one is the cool ink phase when the ink is less the 30 degrees:
the one with the text is when the inkt is being wet amd more than 30 degrees..
